The popular Northern Tale series continues! Peaceful life in the north was over with the attack of Hesta's henchmen. Vikings fought bravely and pushed the enemies back. The battle against the hordes of evil spirits lasted three days and three nights. The enemies were strong, but they were confronted by the courage of the heroes.
Ragnar must return to Earth from Valhalla to protect his people again!. New Viking locations to explore!. Fun Time Management gameplay!.

As I expect with most die hard Northern Tales fans having to wait for the SE to come out was too much and like me you just had to buy the CE. Well there is hardly any difference, most of the extras are here and for only 6 extra levels in the CE plus no strategy guide I should have hung on but the pull was too much lol.If you did wait or have not seen this game before go for this one. I did only give 4 stars for the CE so now add on the extra star for this. This is the one to get. Rated 5 out of5 byJoybelle2 fromAn old friend.
(but a bit smaller?) This is classic TM and classic Northern Tale. A build, gather and meet goals. But it is a lovely series and we haven't had one for a while. And just like most things even though they are what you remember, they have kind of shrunk, like the sweets you ate as a kid. Same thing.but smaller. There are only 40 levels on this compared to the 50 they used to offer.Having said that.I let them regain the star I was going to take off because they left one of the most fun parts in the SE that you usually only get with a CE. There are number of hidden objects on each level (you can see how many on the?
At the top).when you find one by moving your cursor around a rainbow appears where it is. As long as you have gained your 3 stars you can go back and get the objects and your score will stay. But you cant just go back and get the objects and go out.must play the level out the level out till the end again, (but you don't need to worry about your score, your 3 will stay). If you don't finish the level out again.the objects wont register. (perhaps that's why we only get 40 lol)There are a couple of technical issues, it is a bit slow to load and if your cursor is a bit 'floaty' go to options and 'untick' the box. This happens lately in some games. There are wolves to scare, people to consult, buildings to upgrade, magical stones to destroy and lots of bonuses for more of stuff or extra workers etc.
It is really just standard TM, but what sets it apart are the wonderful graphics, a sense of warmth with the characters and the strategy is top notch. As always try the demo, its not perfect in the mechanics, and the levels are a bit of a short change, but all in all its the wonderful game we have always loved. Rated 4 out of5 bybeltie fromFun! Just Two Teensy Annoyances Love the storyline. Excellent challenge.Controls are responsive. Graphics are excellent as well. The two teensy annoyances that made me rate this 4 stars vs 5 stars are:1. The time to load the screen is obnoxiously long.
Appreciate the graphics and little tidbits of info, but yikes!!2. Finding the hidden objects is the other issue. They are sooo small, that it is nigh on impossible to find them during normal game play.
At least for my tired 'ol eyes. Have to catch them on replay and then, as another reviewer noted, you have to complete the level for it to count. I'm one of those that feels the Game isn't completed if I don't attain every achievement, so I am going back to get them, but it feels like a chore:(Other than those two items, enjoyed the game very much and I do recommend it. Rated 4 out of5 bypennmom36 fromWHY DID I BUY THE COLLECTOR'S VERSION IF THE STANDARD EDITION OFFERS THE SAME THINGS? I bought the CE version of Northern Tales 5: Revival sight unseen because I have always loved Northern Tales.

I downloaded this Standard Edition version today to see what the game was like without the challenging Hidden Objects but they are included in this version too, in fact, there are still 67 Achievements. And 8 specialty items as well!
The CE version didn't include a Strategy Guide anyway, so I wish now that I would have just patiently waited for this 41-level SE version!:(My favorite feature in this long-awaited 5th addition to Northern Tales was the maddening, crazy-challenging HIDDEN OBJECTS! Each scene has a specified number of hidden objects to find (2-3) and the only way you're going to find them is by scanning the cursor over the scene w/o clicking to start the level. Until a rainbow pops up, they are usually hidden in the rocks that are scattered about, but even then they are super hard to spot! You can choose to play in a Multi-Click Mode, a Normal Mode or a Relaxed Untimed Mode of difficulty and there are still 67 Achievement Rewards available and 41 Main Levels included. The CE version has 6 Additional Bonus Levels (I have to cry foul because all the other Northern Tales games had 50 levels and they were only available in Standard Editions)Time Management games such as this one require you to clear paths, repair bridges and ladders, collect food and resources such as ore and gold, and you will need to repair and build pig farms, fix potholes, mine for gold, clear boulders and remove rubble, collect ingredients for potions, etc. You meet new people on every level that of course, require completing a task before they can help you with yours, (or construct a place of residency) such as feeding giants, chasing away wolves, and there's always a Viking or two that needs to be rescued. This is a really fun and very addictive game, but it does require some strategy.
The mechanics are uncomplicated, and easy to figure out, but the goals can be challenging to meet within the specified time to earn Gold. There are several Bonuses to help you achieve your goals, such as Time Freeze for 15 seconds, +1 Viking worker for 20 seconds, Faster Workers, Restore Resource on the Magic Places, +1 Resource Selected, and Faster Building Production (you can reuse multiple times but they must recharge after each use). Rated 2 out of5 bybessiegirl fromDissapointed Maybe I had forgotten that this series does not allow you to still win 'stars' even if your time runs out, but I find that annoying. Most time management games have settings which allow you to play without a timer, with a timer but doesn't shut the game down and the expert level which times out and makes you start the level over. Well, this ones doesn't except on the untimed level. Also, unless you check the multi-click level, you have to wait for the character to get back to his house before you move on.That factor along with the terribly slow level change makes this game totally not fun to play, at least for me.I prefer to play with the option of 'stars' but if you time out you can still continue to play the level and move on. I have several of this series and I don't remember them being like this.Make sure you turn off the voices or that will drive you nuts too.
Help King Ragnor rescue the Princesses Summer, Autumn, and Winter and defeat the army of giants, witches, and black knights that threatens the peace and prosperity of the Northern Lands. As this dark army advances through the Northern Lands they destroy everything in its path. When King Ragnor and the Princes arrive at the scenes all is black and white. As the levels are clear and the dark army defeated color is returned to the Northern Lands.
